Day 3: 12 Hour Window

Intermittent Fasting (IF) on a daily basis is simply condensing the times that you eat down to 12 hours or less. For example, eating only from 7:00 AM-7:00 PM (12-hour window), or condensing it down even more from 12:00 noon to 8:00 PM (8-hour window). You can start out at the 12-hour window if you’ve never done IF before but we start to see the greatest benefits starting at an 8 hour window. Why? Because during the times when we don’t eat, our insulin drops and we start to burn fat for energy, among other benefits (like improved mental clarity and concentration, lowered blood sugar levels, improved insulin sensitivity, increased energy, lowered blood cholesterol, reversed aging, and decreased inflammation*).

Your body needs time to process everything you eat in a day. 12 hours or more is optimal for your body to "digest and rest" and burn fat for energy.

So if you want to have your breakfast smoothie at 9:00 AM, then you should stop eating by 9:00 PM. If you are the type of person who used to snack at night, grab a cup of hot CleanTox Herbal Detox tea instead!

For weight loss, most people need about 16 hours of no eating for the fat-burning to start to kick in and to lose it slowly, steadily, and in a healthy way.** 

A major advantage of the 8-hour window daily routine is that it is fairly simple to incorporate into everyday life while incorporating the 30 Days to Healthy Living program. For example, upon waking, drink a glass of water, lemon water or detox tea. Then at 12:00 noon have a shake, a Fizz stick, a handful of nuts, and some raw vegetables. In the afternoon if you become hungry again, have another shake. Then for dinner, eat a healthy meal.***
